Local Attractions The local area is abundant with beautiful countryside, walks, and cycle routes, and has many wonderful tourist attractions, as well as quality and award winning Inns and restaurants.
A visit to North Yorkshire would be incomplete without a trip to the stately and majestic Castle Howard which was the setting for the film "Brideshead Revisited". Castle Howard also has beuatiful grounds and an award winning farm shop.
Scarborough, Whitby, Filey and Bridlington can be reached by car in just over an hour and for those who enjoy rock pooling and fossiing Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay provide the perfect environment. There are many pretty villages and market towns to visit including Harrogate with it's green Strays and Roman Spa baths, Northallerton, Thirsk and Helmsley with its castle and open air swimming pool!. Cycling / Walking For the more energetic, the Sustrans National Cycle Route 65 is close by and for walkers you have a choice of two National Trails, The Cleveland Way and The Wolds Way and a wide selection of local footpaths and longer routes including The Foss Way, The Ebor Way, The Centenary Way, The Minster Way and the Howardian Way. The Lyke Wake Walk and Wainwright's Coast to Coast across the North York Moors are also within easy access. Enjoy!
