Hazelwood Farm is a little haven of tranquillity amongst the rolling landscape of beautiful farmland with panoramic views across the Vale of York. Set in 200 acres of arable land, the farm and the modern guest annexe is positioned on the first hill rising from the Vale and has uninterrupted views to the south which, on a clear day, can take the eye as far away as 40 miles! To the north are the Howardian Hills and the North York Moors, to the east the Yorkshire Wolds are clearly visible, whilst to the west the Pennines sit majestically.
The characterful village of Crayke is just a lazy 10 minute stroll across the fields…or for the less adventurous, a 10 minute walk up the road! We are lucky enough to have the multi award winning Durham Ox Inn just up the hill where fine dining and excellent service are guaranteed.
Set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Crayke boasts a 15th century castle & church and evidence has been unearthed of a Roman settlement thought to date from AD370.
We are situated midway between the beautiful walled City of York (14 miles away) and the market town of Thirsk (11 miles), home of the famous vet & author, James Herriot.
A wealth of National trust properties, English Heritage sites, golf courses, and fantastic cycling/walking routes are all nearby whilst the coast, the Dales & North Yorkshire Moors are all easily accessible.
So whether it’s a relaxing location to unwind in, a base to explore the rolling countryside, or just an excuse to enjoy a glass of wine on the south facing terrace on a balmy summers evening under a vast starry sky, then Hazelwood Farm welcomes you!
